The BTR-40 (БТР, from Бронетранспортер, or Bronetransporter, literally "armoured transporter".†) is a Soviet non-amphibious, wheeled armoured personnel carrier and reconnaissance vehicle.[3] It is often referred to as the Sorokovka in Soviet service.[4] It is also the first mass-produced Soviet APC. It was eventually replaced in the APC role by the BTR-152 and in the scout car role by the BRDM-1.

Fiat 621

Polski Fiat 621 was a Polish 2.5-tonne truck, the basic lorry of the Polish Army during the 1930s. A licence-built version of the Italian Fiat 621, it was heavily modified to better suit Polish needs and cope with bad roads of Poland. The undercarriage was produced in two variant: Polski Fiat 621 L was the basic variant to receive a number of superstructures while Polski Fiat 621 R was used as the basis for a line of successful buses for the civilian market and heavier, 3-tonne lorries for the army.
The modifications to the original Fiat design included:

Almost every AFV produced by other nations has a German name and probably some mild instances of use after being captured. Only those vehicles which were used extensively should be listed here. Oberiko 14:29, 12 Feb 2005 (UTC)
  • Yes that is true there were a lot, which is why I only listed a couple of the more well known ones there in addition to the 35/38. The idea that only extensively used afv's should be listed is exceedinlg contradictory as many of the non-experimental ones on the list had fewer then a 100 produced and saw only limted action, less then many captured vehicles.
  • The three Nzbf's you mention were only the three that saw action in Norway and used for propoganda, there were some other earlier prototpyes that existed of that general class. They were not really the typical prototype's since they saw action, but I will agree they probably shouldn't go alongside the major tanks since it was so limited.
  • Right now the template is a mix of high and low production vehicles of widely varying degree's of use. Depending on what threshold of use should be used it is either very incomplete or has many uneeded vehicles.
  • I am going to try and make some more changes, though I will leave some things. Starfury 05:49, 13 Feb 2005 (UTC)

The 9th SS Panzer Division "Hohenstaufen", also known as SS-Panzergrenadier-Division 9 Hohenstaufen, was a German Waffen-SS Armoured division which saw action on both the Eastern and Western Fronts during World War II. The division was activated on the 31 December 1942. Many of the men of the division were young German conscripts, with a cadre of experienced NCOs and staff from the Leibstandarte SS Adolf Hitler. Their first action was in March 1944 in Poland; they were then moved to Normandy in June that year. After the retreat from France, they were moved to Arnhem in September 1944, to rest and refit and became involved in the Allied parachute landings. Their next action was the German advance in the Ardennes in the winter of 1944–1945. After defeat in the Ardennes, the division was moved to Hungary, where it took part in the fighting to the west of Budapest in February and March. Falling back into Austria, the division surrendered to the advancing United States Army on 5 May 1945, at Steyr.

The Leichter Panzerspähwagen (German: roughly "light armoured reconnaissance vehicle") was a series of light four-wheel drive armoured cars produced by Nazi Germany from 1935 to 1944.
Designed to meet operational requirements including reliability, run on a variety of grades of fuel, simple construction and good off-road performance the first such vehicle was the Sd Kfz 221 but this proved too small and too lightly armed, so in 1936-37 a heavier version was planned, using one of two standard chassis for four-wheel armoured cars, one with a front-mounted engine, the other rear mounted version, was used in the Sd Kfz 222, which became the standard light armoured car in German army service until the defeat of Nazi Germany.

The heavy Panzerspähwagen was a large but very fast and highly versatile addition to the German Army. The original 6 Rad (6 wheeled) versions were based on a 6x4 truck with an armoured body, but by 1937 they were being replaced by the 8 Rad versions. During the replacement, the Sd.Kfz. (Sonderkraftfahrzeug, special vehicle) numbers were carried directly over; differentiation is made by the addition of 6-Rad or 8-Rad in the vehicle's name.

SM42 Locomotive

The SM42 was the first Polish-designed heavier diesel locomotive and was the most in its country of origin.

The technical documentation for this locomotive was developed in 1958-1962 by the state Central Construction Bureau of Railway Stock Industry (CBKPTK) in Poznań, as type 6D. The production was given over to the Fablok Locomotive Factory in Chrzanów, where it was designated Ls800E (meaning an 800 HP diesel locomotive with electric transmission). The prototype was ready in December 1963. It was lent to the Polish State Railways (PKP), as the SM42-001, the class designation 'SM' meaning a diesel shunter locomotive, and was tested in Warsaw in 1964. Two improved locomotives were built for the PKP in 1964, and twenty in 1965. In 1967, the locomotive entered serial production and 1,822 were built until production ceased in 1992. During the long production run, some minor improvements were incorporated into the design. The locomotives produced from 1972 onwards (so-called batch 2) had simplified chassis (starting from SM42-521, bu.no. 8499).
The main buyer of Ls800 locomotives, which had priority in orders, were the Polish State Railways, which received 1157 locomotives. They were used for shunting, local freight traffic and local passenger traffic in warm months. 622 were made for the Polish industry, some in Ls800P variant with single steering only (they were designated by their users as Ls800 or SM42, with numbers above 2000).
A variant of type 6D/SM42 locomotive was a type 101D locomotive, with steam heating for passenger trains. Further 268 locomotives of this variant were built and classified as PKP class SP42.

Later modifications

In 1972, a new version (6DM) was developed specifically for Moroccan railways (ONCFM). 37 were delivered as class DG 200 in 1973-1975. The main difference with respect to the original design was better anti-dust insulation of the machine compartment. Six similar locomotives, type 6DI, were built in 1982 for Dromex, a Polish building company operating in Iraq.
In the years 1975-1977, forty locomotives were converted to SU42 ("diesel universal") class, with the addition of 500 V electric heating for passenger wagons. Due to withdrawal of such wagons, in 2000 these locomotives were reclassified back to SM42. Another 40 SU42 locomotives, with 3000 V heating, were converted in the years 1999-2000 from PKP class SP42.

PNH-5 Tractor Loader Construction Vehicle

A loader is a type of tractor, usually wheeled, sometimes on tracks, that has a front-mounted square wide bucket connected to the end of two booms (arms) to scoop up loose material from the ground, such as dirt, sand or gravel, and move it from one place to another without pushing the material across the ground. A loader is commonly used to move a stockpiled material from ground level and deposit it into an awaiting dump truck or into an open trench excavation.
